I use a similar solution and I love it. It works on every app and requires no browser add-ons. I use a list from this ancient looking website: http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm

I wish I could use this on my phone.

EDIT: Looks like I should switch to the https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts source, as it includes the one I referenced plus a lot more.
