Having a birds eye view changes the dynamic of an in person event because you can more easily observe who makes a beeline for who. But as someone who gets a headache from first person games I still prefer birds eye anyway.
Yeah it's tragic. Short sighted and less secure. I don't think the politicians understand the risks involved of normalising uploading your ID to 3rd parties. I've tried emailing my MP but it falls on deaf ears.
I suspect the person you replied to only happened to see that from physics grads. I have seen it in all sorts of people and I sometimes did it myself when I was young (I am not a physics grad).
Popular opinion can just be at local scale. Hence Tom Lehrer's joke

I used to work for a firm that did custom homes for wealthy clients. Even when we paired them up with designers some of them just preferred a very plain appearance.
That said, I thought the games room with rows of hide-away PCs looked like a call centre or at best a 90s internet cafe.
People choose not to because they see no need to, but if they put some time, effort and not a lot of money then those barriers are not so high.
I took the trouble to get a driving license because I saw value in that. I also took the trouble to learn to set up my own stuff on a VPS because I saw value in that too.
This is still ER - clinicians using AI tools. The MH triage flow is patient interacts with an AI by typing or speaking. It could work - maybe the systems in the article are just not very well set-up.
