> Between this and the Honeycomb source I just checked out through git...

I guess you were being sarcastic, but did you know that the Honeycomb source was released by ASUS a few days ago? See:

http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2042581/asus-releas...

And most of that source was already available direct from Google git anyway.

But to be clear it's Asus fulfilling their GPL requirements for Linux, not the Google originated Android stuff.

That's just the kernel source, which has been available for quite a while. It's the userspace code that people are clamoring for.

I'm working on a basic Cocos2d tutorial, written for beginners:

http://www.coconutcollege.net

Check it out, and let me know if you run into any problems. It's not finished yet, but the first four courses will give you a good foundation. I should have the next two courses posted within a week or so.

For those not familiar with Cocos2d iPhone, it is a fantastic open source 2d game framework. The 'mac support' in Cocos2d iPhone is still experimental, and missing a few features :

http://www.cocos2d-iphone.org/archives/1074

The roadmap indicates mac support should be ready this release cycle (0.95), but it probably won't stabilize until 0.96. Once finished, porting games written with Cocos2d between iOS and Mac should be trivial, allowing for differences in input.

If anyone is interested in learning more about Cocos2d iPhone, I've started a tutorial series for people with little or no programming experience:

http://www.coconutcollege.net

It's not finished, but I think it provides a good introduction to the basic concepts.

Thanks for the link, cocos2d always needs more tutorials. And you're probably talking about versions 0.99.5 and 0.99.6.

I had messaged you on the Cocos2d board I think. I started working through your original tutorials but decided to wait until you redid them. Glad to see they're available now - I'll be starting to work through them this weekend!

They're available, but not finished. I've posted the first four courses, which should be more than enough to get started. The next two courses are written, and I'm (hopefully) going to have the in good shape to post next week.

Sounds good. They're a great way to just get some guidance into getting my feet wet with iPhone development. Looking forward to them.

Thanks for sharing this! I love the clean, detailed presentation. I'm sure it will help many getting started.

Very nice website. I had to smile a few times because of your writing style ;-)

I've written a very basic introduction to Django, no programming experience is required, or assumed:

http://www.instantdjango.com

It also includes a standalone Django development environment for Windows, so you don't need to waste time learning how to install and configure everyting. Give it a shot, and see if you can follow along. If you like it, there are plenty of great free Python and Django resources out there.

As an aside, I'm also writing an iPhone game programming tutorial for complete beginners:

http://coconutcollege.net

It's not done yet, but the first four courses should get you up and running with Cocos2d for iPhone. I should have the next two courses finished and posted within the next two weeks.
